Dorfus and Ernestine begin making wine for purchase.

Dorfus Young and Ernestine move to MS and begin building their home.

Dorfus and Ernestine begin to view their land as a business and start the process of repurposing it from a cotton field to land filled with pecan trees, fruit trees, grapes, vegetables, and forestry. Then they established their business as an LLC.

The Young Family Farm becomes fully licensed to sell, manufacture, and produce wine.

2021

The Young Family Farm Event Center is complete and they begin renting it out to colleges, high schools, and local vendors. They also start hosting fundraisers, paint and sips events, and wine tastings. The Young Family Farm also begins attending events as a wine vendor.

2023

The Young Family Farm builds a new wine house facility that focuses on the process of wine making and tours.

The Young Family Farm begins to grow muscadine grapes, which are one of the healthiest and hardiest grapes that are native to the Delta climate.


The Young Family Farm is now a leading wine distribution manufacturer and retailer in the Delta. It is also the only wine distribution manufacturer and retailer in the Delta that is owned and operated by a Black woman.
